With the help of some Farming miscues, the Martins scored three unearned runs in the bottom of the fourth to defeat the Flames 3-1, under the lights on Friday evening, at St. Martin.
Farming scored its lone run when Taylor Fourre led off the fifth with a double, and scored later that inning on Max Carlson's RBI single to right. Taylor had two doubles on the evening as the Flames tallied six hits.
Brad Mergen started and went five innings, surrending just two hits, no earned runs, and striking out seven. Aaron Nett pitched three strong innings of relief.
Farming now stands 10-2 in the SCL-South, with only this Sunday's game with Spring Hill left on the league schedule. St. Martin is in second place at 8-3, and have two games next weekend: Friday night hosting Lake Henry, and Saturday traveling to Spring Hill. So the Flames will know what they have to do by Sunday's ballgame.
Farming has one final exhibition game of the season this Friday evening, when the boys travel to Regal. Game time is 6:30pm.
