The Flames lost another heartbreaker on Sunday, falling 4-3 at Richmond. Farming has three extra-inning losses in its last four ballgames.
Dusty Adams had a walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th inning to score the winning run. Adams’ one-out base hit scored Alex Budde from second. Budde reached on a hit by a pitch and stole second. He also walked three times.
Adams was 2-for-3, and Scott Ruegemer added two hits for Richmond.
Luke Jokela went eight innings for the Royals (4-3 Stearns County South). Andy Bauer came on in the ninth and got the win.
For Farming, Brad Mergen went nine innings. Aaron Nett came on in the 10th and got the loss.
Farming led 2-1 until Cole Schmitz slugged a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth to tie it.
The Flames (1-7 Stearns County South) got a run in the top of the ninth to take the lead. But Richmond scored in the bottom of the ninth to send it to extra innings.
For Farming, Taylor Fourre was 3-for-5. Max Carlson and Cody Fourre each had two hits for the Flames.
