The boys from Farming went on the road Sunday to defeat New Munich 3-1 in a well-played ballgame. Farming played the ballgame with a shortened bench as a number of high school and college players were not available.
The Flames scored all of their runs in the third inning on a clutch two-run single by Zach Kaltes, scoring Cody Fourre and Tylor Schroeder. Mitchell Thelen scored the third run of the inning courtesy of a Silverstreak error.
Brad Mergen started on the bump and pitched four scoreless innings, giving up just two hits and recording five strikeouts. Chad Mergen went the next three innings, allowing a run on two hits and getting the win in the process. Tylor Schroeder earned the save by going the final two innings, giving up one hit. The Flames finished with eight strikeouts and did not commit an error in the field.
Next up the for the Flames is a home game Friday 6:30pm vs. Opole, and then a league game on Sunday 1:30pm at Roscoe.
