Brad Mergen's bases-loaded single in the bottom of the 11th scored Robert Schleper and gave the Flames an 8-7 win over the Royals. The game ended at approximately 12:10am.
The Flames got off to a quick start in this one, plating two runs in the bottom of the first. With one out, Tylor Schroeder went deep hitting a line drive home run to left center. Cody Fourre and Brad Mergen followed with singles, and Nick Mergen's single drove in Cody with the second run of the inning.
Farming score three more in the second. Zach Kaltes reached on an error, and went to second on a single by Aaron Einyck. Carey Shay pinch-ran for Zach. Tylor Schroeder walked to load the bases, and Cody Fourre was hit by a pitch, driving in the first run. Brad and Taylor Fourre followed with singles, with each driving in a run.
The Flames picked up another run in the fourth on a sacrifice fly from Taylor, and scored another in the six with four consecutive singles from Cody, Brad, Taylor and Nick Mergen. Richmond rallied with three runs in the six and another in the seventh to send the game into extra innings.
In the bottom of the 11th, Robbie Schleper led off with a walk and was sacrificed to second by Austin Arceneau. Aaron Einyck and Tylor walked, loading the bases. Brad's single brought in Robbie with the winning run.
Dylan Panek started for Farming and went the first four innings, scattering nine hits and getting two strikeouts. Tylor pitched the next 2 2/3, before giving way to Brad who got a big strikeout to end the seventh inning. Brad went 4 1/3 innings, giving up a run on two hits and recording six strikeouts.
With the win, Farming moves to 3-2 in the Stearns County-South, a game behind Lake Henry.
