The Bears scored two runs in the top of the ninth to edge the Flames 3-2 on a beautiful Friday evening, at Farming.
The Flames started fast by plating two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Aaron Einyck led off with a walk, and Eric Schmitted bunted into a forceplay at second. Nick Mergen walked, moving Eric to second. Isaac Nett followed with a hard single, scoring Eric and sending Nick to third. Nick then scored on a sacrifice fly by Adam Winkels.
In the fourth inning, the Bears loaded the bases with no outs. The next batter hit a groundball to Nick Mergen at third, who threw home to Zach Kaltes for one out and then onto Adam Winkels at first for a doubleplay. A popup to the infield ended the inning with no runs scored.
Farming gave up an unearned run in the sixth before succumbing to the Bears' two run rally in the ninth.
Chad Mergen started for Farming and went five scoreless innings. Aaron Einyck pitched two innings, giving up an unearned run. Zach Kaltes pitched the final two innings, taking the loss for the Flames.
