Farming had a 4-0 lead but ended up losing to the Royals 7-5, on Friday night at Farming.
The Flames touched up Richmond starter Eli Emerson for two runs in the bottom of the 1st. Isaac Nett's single scored Taylor Fourre, and Cody Fourre followed with a sacrifice fly, scoring Isaac. However, it could have been a much bigger inning as Farming left the bases loaded. In the 2nd, Will Mergen doubled, and scored on a double by Isaac, making the score 3-0.
The Flames picked up another run in the bottom of the 5th. Isaac's pop fly was lost in the lights, resulting in a double. Cody was hit by a pitch, and Coby Mergen came in to pinch run. After Isaac stole third and Coby second, Nick Mergen reached on an infield single, scoring Isaac. Adam Wenkels then hit a line drive to deep right that was caught by the right fielder, saving at least one run and ending the inning.
In the top of the 6th, Richmond finally got to starter Tylor Schroeder and put three runs up on the board. Taylor Fourre came on in relief during the inning. Richmond tied the game in the eighth, and went ahead with another three runs in the ninth off of reliever Dylan Panek.
Farming made a last-ditch effort to tie things up in the bottom of the 9th. Isaac led off with a single to right, followed by a walk to Ethan Navratil. Cody Fourre nearly tied things up with a smash to deep left-center, but the Richmond fielder made a great catch while slamming into the fence. After a strikeout Nick singled to left, scoring Isaac and putting runners on first and second. However, that's where the rally ended for the Flames.
Farming drops to 4-1 in the Stearns County League--South Division, and is tied for first place with Richmond. Next up for the Flames is a road game at Meire Grove on Sunday, July 12, at 1:30pm.
